Puppy Feeding
Puppies have just been born For a period of time after that, nutrition is obtained through the mother's breastfeeding. When the dog grows up, usually between 6 and 8 weeks, it can be completely weaned. After they are weaned, they need to obtain the energy needed for growth from other foods. As the development of dog food becomes more and more professional and complete, most families will adopt dog food. Now there are also dog food for puppies, which is not only more convenient but also healthier.
However, there is another problem at this time. The puppy does not know that it is full when it eats. Therefore, people often have a confusion about how much dog food should be fed to puppies. Moreover, the quantity word often used is "grain", and how many "grains" of dog food should be fed, which is a bit too rigid. The amount of food to be fed should be determined based on the brand and variety of dog food purchased and the actual condition of your own dog.
Under normal circumstances, puppies should be fed small meals and frequent meals. The smaller the dog, the more times it needs to be fed every day, so the frequent meals cannot be large. We might as well have a reference standard. When a dog is hungry, the abdomen may be slightly lower than the height of the sternum, that is, recessed. Feeding should ensure that the dog is 80% full. You can feel the puppy's belly with both hands after every meal. If its belly is round and plump, not overly full or deflated, and is parallel to or slightly higher than the sternum, it means the weight is good, and you will have a reference standard.
And you can also observe the dog's defecation. If the dog is fed too little, the dog's defecation will be very astringent and difficult to process; if the defecation is very soft, has a strong smell, or even has diarrhea, it means that the dog has been fed too much.
It is also found that if you want to reduce the amount of puppy feeding, you should gradually reduce it bit by bit. During the feeding process, you should also pay attention to the dog's defecation status. Do not reduce too much at one time, which will make the dog adapt to it.
