Eagle-billed turtles (definite introduction)
The hawk-billed turtle is relatively rare in the Chinese pet market. Because of its curved beak, it is also called the parrot turtle or the hawk-billed turtle. Some eagle-billed turtles are kept as pets, and some are kept as edible turtles. Using turtle shells as medicine is an ancient prescription that has been passed down in China for thousands of years, so people believe that it is a good medicine for health.
1. Feeding and control of eagle-billed turtle hatchlings
Hatchlings The feed of the turtle is basically the same as that of the parent turtle, but the particles are required to be finer and softer. The feeding amount is about 5% to 8% of the body weight of the young turtle, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. If artificial full-price pellet feed is used for young turtles, the total weight should be 3% to 5%, and sprinkled on the food table twice in the morning and evening. If feeding artificial powdery synergistic feed, it should be thoroughly mixed with moisture and kneaded for a long time to make it soft and sticky, and then fed close to the water surface on the food table. There should be a shade shed on the turtle pond for sun protection, and new water should be added frequently to keep the water quality fresh. Residues should be removed immediately to prevent damage to the water quality. In winter, hatchlings should pay attention to keeping warm so that they can survive the winter safely. They can be covered with plastic film when the water temperature is below 15°C.
2. Breeding and control of adult eagle-billed turtles
Eagle The mouth turtle has a wide food habit, eating both animal feed and plant feed. To make it grow quickly, it should mainly feed on animal feed, supplemented by plant feed. It also needs to add a variety of vitamins, trace elements and calcium. , phosphorus and other mineral feeds. The ratio of animal and plant feed should be 7:3 or 8:2. The feed requirements should be fresh, processed and fed on the same day, and no rotten food should be fed. The quality and quantity of feed will also vary depending on the different growth stages and climate conditions of the eagle's beak turtle. Every year from July to September is the peak period of the eagle's beak turtle's feeding movement, and its sinking rate is the fastest. Therefore, these three months should be provided with sufficient nutrients so that they can eat more and grow faster.
The bone temperature is lower when they are older. The eagle-billed turtle likes to move around noon and eat, so it should be fed before noon. In summer, when the temperature is higher, most of them move around in search of food from 5 to 7 pm. existAs the hibernation period approaches, the amount of feeding should be reduced to make the turtle gain weight and benefit from overwintering. Before and during the mating period of the eagle-billed turtle, feed rich in protein and easy to digest should be fed, as well as vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, etc., to increase the fertilization rate and growth rate of the eagle-billed turtle. After November every year, when the temperature is lower than 15°C, the eagle-billed turtle will lie down in the sediment at the bottom of the pond, unable to eat or move, and enter a state of hibernation. At this time, there is no need to feed or change the water, but attention should be paid to heat preservation and straw and other materials should be placed around the pond. Usually (referring to the three seasons of spring, summer and autumn), attention should be paid to changing the water in the breeding pool. Change it every 2 days in summer and every 5 days in spring and summer to keep the water clean and prevent turtle diseases.
